Research The entries in the 1859 York census are interesting. Charles Hicks 30, Mary Hicks 25, Mary Hicks 3, Fanny Hicks 1 & Thomas Lally 5.

Francis Hicks is the daughter of Charles & Ellen Reg: 4503/1859 as is Mary Anne Hicks (see citation). Thomas Lally is clearly Ellen's son (unsure about the father). It appears almost certain that Mary Hicks on the census is in fact Ellen Lally.9
